SOME  IMPORTANT AREAS OF  MOUNTAIN DEVIC ACTIVITY

"Great things happen when men and mountains meet, such things are not done by  jostling in the street."

William Blake

The Teton range of which the Grand Teton is the highest (13,766 ft., 4130 m.) is one of the younger parts of  The Rocky Mountains  in North America. It is also part of Teton National Park with Yellowstone National Park about fifty miles up the road. This glorious natural wilderness area is a healthy tonic to visit in itself. However, its interest to the student of occult science lies in the fact that on two occasions in each year (midnight 30th June and 31st December - U.S. mountain time) a great convocation is held over 10 nights. At this super-physical  gathering an august member of Earth's spiritual Hierarchy known as The Silent Watcher ( known as Cyclopea  in the St. Germain teachings) appears to the assembled visitors and spiritual aspirants inside the Grand Teton itself and gives his benediction to the world. This great being is attended by an angelic retinue and indeed there are also interplanetary and inter-stellar  ambassadors who visit from other schemes of evolution  also present at these times. These exalted inner plane experiences,  which the student may find himself able to remember to a greater or lesser extent after meditation or sleep, are called "Teton Nights". A physical plane visit to the Tetons may act as a precursor to you for such privileged experiences.

VOLCANOES

Mt. Shasta, Northern California, U.S.A,

There is something about volcanoes which is of great significance to people who are about to waken up spiritually. Mr. Hodson refers to it as "the Hephaestus effect" named after Hephaestus (Vulcan) the blacksmith of the gods in the Greek Myths. This is because the geothermal fires carry a great measure of the Kundalini force which comes from the repository at the centre of the Earth. At the appropriate time in a person's evolution  and under safe and guided circumstances, measures of this Kundalini force can be used to power spiritual evolution and expansion of consciousness. If a person thus presents him/herself on a volcanic mountain at an appropriate time in their life, very strange, interesting  and unusual awakenings may occur - especially in relation to the angels and nature-spirits of the area - but sometimes also with the Adepts and Masters of the Wisdom who often also use the interior of the mountain for their initiatory and teaching purposes. Below are some well-known and accessible volcanic mountains that the author has visited and had some experience of their inner life, albeit only a fragment of what there there is to know.

Mt. Shasta in Northern California is spoken about with awe in New Age circles. It is indeed a most wonderful spiritual place to visit. It is a  strato volcano and is the focal centre of many sacred sites and spiritual force centres within a hundred mile circumference. It is very accessible and well kept by the Rangers and you can drive up the mountain from Mt. Shasta village (about 22 miles away) along the Everitt Memorial Highway almost to the snowline itself or you can park at trailheads or Alpine meadows. There is a great tradition of unusual happenings on the mountain from Lemurian occupation, Adeptic contact, U.F.O. and devic activity - it is an initiation centre - so be prepared for testing and unusual experience. Travel there with expectation and love in your heart and see what message the mountain has for you - which will differ for each person. The name of the presiding deva (angel) of the mountain is Bodêaccà. Try intoning his name in pure meditation upon the mountain's slopes and see  if  he has a message to offer you. Often would-be yogis can be seen taking in the the mountain's life force at Panther and Squaw meadows.

THE NORTH ISLAND OF NEW ZEALAND

Tongariro National Park looking down from the Mangetepopo saddle

The geology of the North Island of New Zealand is volcanic in origin and evidence of this is to be found everywhere you go, Auckland for example is built upon more than fifty extinct volcanoes. Tongariro National Park actually contains three volcanoes, Mts. Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe. There is a famous walk called the Tongariro Crossing which passes through the lava fields between Tongariro and Ngurahoe and the visitor can see such interesting phenomena as the brightly coloured Emerald Lakes and can also smell and see the emissions from the numerous fumaroles that cover the area.

The Emerald Lakes

The Crossing takes seven hours and is very steep in parts, but the effort is worth it because it brings you into close contact with the Devic energies. I had my greatest devic experiences in this vicinity. Visitors who  are short of time and want to do the Crossing at the earliest opportunity after arrival (mountain weather being a little unpredictable) base themselves at Whakapapa Village where they can catch an early morning  shuttle bus which takes them up to a  car-park  on the mountain pass -  a short distance from the Mangetepopo hut. If you have more time you can stay at one of the many more outlying hostels or ski lodges in the area and they can arrange shuttle transport for you.

The walk itself is well marked by wooden stakes which are placed in position by the Rangers of the New Zealand Department of Conservation. If you want to linger on the mountains you can book yourself into the Ketatahi hut  for the night which  is on the descent. Don't miss the extraordinary opportunity of walking through this spiritual volcanic landscape if you can possibly make it.

Mt. Egmont (Taranaki), North Island of New Zealand

Mt. Egmont also known as Mt. Taranaki

This is another great volcanic mountain which looks rather like Mt. Fuji in Japan. It has some particularly beautiful walks through tree-fern and rainforest ecosystems.

Wilkies Pools

One of these walks lead to Wilkies Pools - a complex of mountain pools - the largest of which is used by a healing deva who lives on the mountain. I was grateful to a local theosophical clairvoyant  who most kindly took our party to the healing pool, although the sides are a bit steep it is possible to immerse oneself in the pool and receive the deva's healing energies. Our kindly guide also created the illustration below which shows the healing deva (the smaller of the two) who descends to the pool area when he sees visitors arrive who are in need of his services.

The Healing Deva of Mt. Egmont (left)

The following article authored by our Theosophical guide appeared in Theosophy in New Zealand:

"Our family and two T.S.* friends who were visiting went out for the day to the Wilkies Pools in Egmont National Park about 68 km south of  New Plymouth. On an earlier visit there I had noticed this wonderful deva present over the pool - that responded to my thoughts. It was a deva responsible for maintaining and energizing the life currents in the Wilkies Pools area. I had a cartilage problem with my knee that was not responding to physiotherapy so I thought  I would try out the healing properties of the Wilkies Pool and its deva assistant. I immersed my knee briefly in the cold water during which time I was thinking strongly about the devas influence. My knee was free of pain and I have been able to walk since then totally free of pain. I was full of energy and very thankful for the deva's help and wondered why it wasn't known for its healing capabilities. On the way back to the car park we met a group of young maoris, one was carrying the taiaha (an ornately carved war spear nowadays used for ceremonial and martial arts training - Ed), and an older gentleman who appeared inwardly different yet was the group's leader. He looked as though he may have been lost - as we spoke I could feel and sense that he could see more than the physical things around us. I mentioned the great deva and its healing capability - his eyes by this time I could almost feel, were drilling through my bodies. He said, "My friend, we have come here specially to visit the Wilkies Pools and bathe in its influence. For many years past we have kept this healing place a secret to our people. How have you discovered what we have tried to keep secret for so long? I replied "By tuning into nature and the forces around us". With farewells they continued on their way to Wilkies Pools.

I later found out from another Maori friend that this man was a Tohunga (priest or shaman Ed.) from another district and had brought the group of  Maoris to the pools so that the forces of the deva may help them too. With other TS friends we have since taken to the pools, I have noticed a stream of golden light from the deva to the part being healed on the body."

* T.S. - members of the Theosophical Society - Ed.

The indigenous Maori people knew about this healing pool  before the Pakeha (the white man) came to the area and they still use its healing energies today, so if you visit please show the respect which is due to such a sacred area.
